According to the Wall Street Journal, T-Mobile (a unit of Deutsche Telekom AG (ADR) (NYSE:DT)) is soon to roll out a line of phones that can roam onto wireless connections either in consumers’ homes or in T-Mobile hotspots, such as Starbucks Corporation (NASDAQ:SBUX) coffeeshops.

Apple agrees to royalty deal in Britain

Apple and four mobile phone operators on Thursday agreed on royalty rates to pay songwriters and music publishers for digital downloads in Britain as part of a recent dispute.

Under terms of the deal, Apple, Vodaphone, O2, France Telecom’s Orange and Deutsche Telekom’s T-Mobile will pay 8 per cent of gross revenue, excluding VAT, for all digitally-sold music, Reuters reports. A rate of 6.5 per cent was agreed for non-on-demand services, including streaming.

EMI Chairman Eric Nicoli said the deal would clear the way to help further develop digital sales. “Our collective focus must be on connecting our artists and consumers in every imaginable legal way and to returning our industry to growth,” he said.
